  Today we continued working with the the Penny Observation lab.  We finished up the drawing and then we worked on the conclusion.  We learned that the conclusion is restating the purpose, the question and the hypothesis.  Below are the steps to created the conclusion.  Please note that the guidelines walk you through where to find all the information to complete the sentence starters that are given. 




Conclusion Guidelines: A conclusion should consist of about a 5 sentence paragraph, and should include the following points. (Hint: these points could be used as the beginning of each sentence in your conclusion)

  1. I did this lab to learn…(refer back to your purpose see lab write up)

  2. I found out…(answer the question, see lab write up)

  3. I know this because…(tell what you saw specifically using your observations that PROVES/DISPROVES your hypothesis  -Plug in your hypothesis here and state if the hypothesis is proved or disproved)

  4. The scientific reason we got these results is…(explain using scientific terms along with lab results that explains your findings - State if you are using qualitative or quantitative observations)

  5. Free-write sentence…(I am still confused about…, I don’t understand…, One job this information could be useful for is…, I enjoyed this lab because…)
