Today we discussed a few more properties of matter. We learned that there are both size independent and size dependent properties of matter.
Two properties of matter that are size dependent are mass and volume.
We then learned of 4 properties of matter that are size independent.
1. Melting/Freezing point and Boiling/condensing point
2. Density where we determine the amount of matter that is in a given space
We have a formula for this D=m/v
3. Conductivity - where matter is able to pass through or conduct energy such as electricity or heat.
4. Solubility - where matter has the ability to be dissolved by a solvent. An example of this is the sugar that you would add to coffee is soluble because it dissolves in the liquid.
