Today we worked on the "Graham" Plate Tectonics lab.  Here we are learning about the different fault types using a hands on lab.   Here is a video of what we are working on. One thing that we discussed that most earthquake and volcanic activity occurs along fault lines.   One exception to this is the Hawaiian Island.   Here the islands are created because there is a hot spot in the mantle that forces magma up through the crust.   Here is a video to explain this.

We needed to finish off some question for the first section of the lab.  These are due on Friday first thing.  Remember that the answers must be in complete sentences.

1.    What happened to the frosting between the crackers?

2.    What do the graham crackers represent?

3.    What does the frosting represent?

4.    Name a specific location on the Earth where this kind of boundary activity takes place.

5.    What type of feature is produced by this movement?

6.    What is the process called that creates new ocean floor from diverging plates?

Hey,  since you are serious about your grade and took the time to look for help on my website,
draw a picture of an Easter Island statue on the back of your log for 2 points.

P.S.  Don't tell anyone else because they are not taking the time to do the work like you are.

P.P.S.  Here is a picture to help you out.

P.P.P.S.   Beware of what is found in deep ocean trenches.
