Today we looked at Group 1: Alkali Metals.  Here we see that this group is very reactive because the outer shell in the Bohr model show a single electron in the outer shell.  These elements would like to get rid of this electron an attach it to another element.  This swapping out of electrons causes quite reaction.  We then looked at the Group 2: Akaline Earth Metals.  These too are very reactive but not as reactive as group 1.  The reason for this is that this whole group of elements has 2 extra electrons in the outer shell which is harder to connect to other elements.   We then just touched on Groups 3-12: Transition Elements.   See the notes below that we took in class.
