Today we finished up the notes for chapter 7 lesson 1. We discussed how homogeneous mixtures are sometimes called solutions. We took the time to learn what all the parts to a solution are. They are to solvent, and the solute. We also covered how a solution has reached its saturation point once the solvent can no longer dissolve any more solute. The examples for this were coffee and chocolate milk.
- Coffee = The Solution
- water = the solvent
- coffee grounds = the solute
- Chocolate milk = solution
- Milk = solvent
- chocolate powder or syrup = solute
- too much power at the bottom (gooey glop) means saturation point has been reached
We then discussed the difference between compounds and Solutions. We have a simple flow chart that helps us with this. This will be at the bottom of this page.
Here are the notes.
