Tuesday 12/7/21

Today we finished up the notes for chapter 7 lesson 1.  We discussed how homogeneous mixtures are sometimes called solutions.  We took the time to learn what all the parts to a solution are.  They are to solvent, and the solute.  We also covered how a solution has reached its saturation point once the solvent can no longer dissolve any more solute. The examples for this were coffee and chocolate milk.

  • Coffee = The Solution
    • water = the solvent
    • coffee grounds = the solute
  • Chocolate milk = solution
    • Milk = solvent
    • chocolate powder or syrup = solute
    • too much power at the bottom (gooey glop) means saturation point has been reached

We then discussed the difference between compounds and Solutions.  We have a simple flow chart that helps us with this.  This will be at the bottom of this page.

Here are the notes.
